The company is promising reduced turnaround times and cost-efficiencies for customers thanks to the creation of the new in-house facility.
Based at Oakenhurst’s Rayleigh, Essex, UK headquarters the workshop is conveniently located for London’s four major airports.
Oakenhurst already has considerable experience of repair and overhaul of oxygen systems at its Boryspil, Kiev facility in Ukraine and is adding the UK workshop to meet growing demand.
The new workshop will provide overhaul and repair of: portable oxygen systems; fixed oxygen systems; oxygen masks, regulators and smoke hoods; and passenger service units.
Managing Director Charlie Parker says, “Due to the nature of the equipment in oxygen systems they typically have quite high removal rates on aircraft and it is normally far cheaper to test and repair these units as opposed to the cost of replacing them.
“Additionally, the equipment is normally costly to ship as it is considered as dangerous goods when pressurized. Oakenhurst believes it can pass on considerable efficiencies to its customers by providing this additional service.”
The workshop will perform hydrostatic testing of the systems together with repair and overhaul as required. Standard testing and repairs has a typical TAT of 7-10 days.
