As part of a series of Smart Events dedicated to helping you think smart, work smart, and earn smart, the event will be held at the Sandvik Coromant Productivity Center in Schaumburg, Ill., from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Bridging the Skills Gap event combines resources for technical knowledge in the metal-cutting process with critical information regarding recent changes in skilled labor needs.
“Typically, the most profitable individuals and businesses are those who develop a plan to continually build their knowledge base to keep ahead of their competitors,” said Robert Page, Training and Productivity Center Manager.
The event will include a look at the manufacturing challenges in the metal cutting industry, methods for building knowledge through training and the positive impact that training has on the bottom line. Stephen C. Mandes, Executive Director at the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS), will talk about how metalworking professionals can improve their skills and gain certification based on NIMS standards. The Smart Event will include an onsite tour of the Productivity Center, machine demonstrations and networking opportunities.
This event is recommended for training managers and supervisors responsible for staffing as well as school administrators and educators responsible for curriculum development.
