Originally founded as The Robert E. Morris Company, the company has grown beyond its New England base, and it now operates a diversified holding company with fourteen subsidiaries servicing metalworking industries throughout North America.
“What a great year to turn seventy,” says Brad Morris, who is third-generation President of the Morris enterprise. “Business has recovered to near pre-meltdown levels, and we are reaping a reward for sustaining intact our customer support service and engineering teams during the tough months between late 2008 and early 2010.”
Morris subsidiaries provide customers machining solutions that range from stand alone CNC machine tools to process-ready, turn key systems that meet demanding SPC metrics. The company employs over 200 applications engineering and service personnel, who support manufacturing supply chain tier members in their quest for greater machining output at less cost.
Morris Group kicks off its 70th year celebration with a $100,000 donation to the American Precision Museum in Windsor, Vermont. The gift will be used for a capital improvement that will commemorate recently deceased Dorothy Morris, a co-founder of the Morris company in 1941. This fall, the organization will hold a 70th Anniversary Celebration at its Windsor, CT headquarters. Throughout the year Morris subsidiaries will hold similar events, introducing latest machining technologies to its regional customers.
