Dr. Hans J. Langer, a pioneer of commercial laser-sintering and CEO of EOS, will be one of the “Founders of the Technologies” keynote speakers at the Founders’ Session of the SME RAPID Prototyping and Manufacturing 2010 Exposition (May 18-20, Anaheim, CA). The session takes place on the second day of the RAPID Exposition and is open to all registered attendees.
“Even when laser-sintering was a fledgling technology, I had great faith in its potential to revolutionize design and manufacturing,” Dr. Langer says. “Since then, it has become essential to innovations from titanium dental implants to lightweight parts for aircraft. These and a host of other exciting applications go far beyond what is possible when designing for traditional manufacturing processes.”
EOS is again the presenting sponsor of RAPID and will continue to use the event for holding their annual North America User Day one day prior to and in the same location as RAPID.
In addition to Dr. Langer’s keynote address, EOS will provide a number of activities at booth #301:
• Demonstration of working FORMIGA P 100 plastics laser-sintering and EOSINT M 270 direct metal laser-sintering (DMLS) systems.
• Sample products made of EOS’ newest available metal materials—IN718, a high-temperature nickel superalloy, and AlSi10Mg, an aluminum casting alloy. Parts made from laser-sintered titanium will also be on display.
• Information about the Integrated Process Chain Management (IPCM), now available for DMLS as well as plastics laser-sintering. The IPCM provides a mechanism for the standardized re-use of powder materials and promotes quality assurance.
• Details about the new Part Property Profiles (PPP), which offer designers constant access to standardized property profiles and corresponding material values. As a result, the PPP enables manufacturers to choose, from predetermined settings, the approach that is most cost-effective for their needs.
• Background on the first North American purchase of an EOSINT P 800 for laser-sintering parts with EOS’s high-performance Polymer, PEEK HP3. This system was recently acquired by Royal Plastic Manufacturing (Minden, Nebraska), who will also be speaking at RAPID 2010 on Thursday.
A number of EOS experts will be available at the booth to answer questions.
