At least two companies with Tarrant County connections would like to snatch a chunk of the Army's helicopter business away from Fort Worth-based Bell Helicopter.
As the Army conducts a study of what it would like and what it could afford if it were to replace Bell's OH-58 Kiowa Warrior, U.S. and foreign competitors alike are angling for a shot at the prize.
Among them are AVX Aircraft Co., a Fort Worth-based startup manned largely by former Bell engineers and executives, and EADS North America and its affiliate, American Eurocopter in Grand Prairie.
