5th International EWI/TWI Seminar on Joining Aerospace Material

Additive manufacturing (AM) technologies have the power to revolutionize sectors of U.S. manufacturing by reducing component lead time, cost, material waste, energy usage and carbon footprint.

Additive manufacturing (AM) technologies have the power to revolutionize sectors of U.S. manufacturing by reducing component lead time, cost, material waste, energy usage and carbon footprint. Unfortunately, commercially available technologies may not be sufficiently productive, reliable, cost-effective, or capable of producing components of the sizes, alloys or properties needed by industry.

The Additive Manufacturing Consortium (AMC) was established to provide the U.S. with a forum to focus on these challenges. The AMC is a national consortium of industry, government, and research organizations engaged in the advancement of manufacturing readiness of AM technologies. It offers a non-competitive environment for the industry to leverage experience, and utilizes a national technology network to provide unbiased advice, development, performance testing, and qualification of additive processes.

The Consortium involves manufacturers across multiple industry sectors to identify metal AM needs and opportunities, and also engages suppliers and research partners to overcome barriers to successful, profitable implementation.
