Third Boeing/Northrop Grumman Interoperability Summit

The Boeing Company and the Northrop Grumman Corporation will hold their third joint Global Product Data Interoperability Summit in Chandler, AZ, November 7-10, 2011.

Data interoperability is integral to efficient and agile product lifecycle management systems. Managers and engineers are facing a fundamental shift in digital product data exchange requirements. The combination of unique authoring processes, proprietary tools, and immature standards all have an effect on how well the value stream interoperates.

To provide a forum to address these concerns, the Global Product Data Interoperability Summit is emerging as the premier event for industry professionals seeking solutions for enabling consistent data interoperability across the value stream and throughout the lifecycle.

“A growing imperative challenging the aerospace and shipbuilding industries is interoperability between global partners.  To meet this demand, standardized model-based design product data is the “holy grail” for creating seamless integration between applications,” said Terrence McGowan, GPDIS chairman, The Boeing Company. “The GPDIS is a catalyst for discussion about these challenges in a collaborative, neutral environment where experts share ideas and solutions.”

This year’s GPDIS theme, “Enabling a Globally Integrated Supply Chain,” will concentrate on the data interoperability challenges presented by implementing model-based processes in an increasingly interconnected world.

“Cooperation and knowledge-sharing across organizations helps everyone achieve product quality more cost-effectively,” said Doug Norton, vice president and CIO, Electronic Systems sector, Northrop Grumman Corporation. “We can all benefit from the newest supply chain integration methodologies being discussed at this year’s GPDIS.”

Presenter abstracts related to improving the quality of product definition across the value stream should be submitted by August 31.

The GPDIS is held at no cost to industry professionals in aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding, and academia as well as supply chain partners. The summit will also include a technical exposition to showcase the latest tools offered by solutions providers.

Product vendors and government organizations should contact Ken Tashiro (ken.tashiro@elysiuminc.com) for participation fees. For hotel reservations at a reduced rate contact the hotel directly (www.SanMarcosResort.com).

“The continued success of this joint Boeing/Northrop Grumman summit is an indication of the high priority these industry leaders place on collaboration to identify, and solve, the ongoing challenges of CAD/CAM/CAE and PLM data transfer and interoperability,” said Ken Tashiro, COO/vice president, Elysium Inc. “As this year’s theme indicates, the global scale at which product design, development and manufacturing data is now being exchanged calls for highly coordinated teamwork coupled with increased security.”

The registration deadline for the 2011 Global Product Data Interoperability Summit is October 8, 2011.
