South Shore Air Show

Gary’s South Shore Air Show, now in its 11th year, will be held at Marquette Park and Beach in Gary, Indiana on July 9th – 12th. The USAF Thunderbirds will headline this year’s show that is presented by the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, Gary Jet Center and the City of Gary.

The Friday evening show (July 9th), which was held at the Gary/Chicago Airport, will now be held at Marquette Park and Beach from approximately 6pm to 9pm. Spectators are encouraged to come early to watch the Thunderbirds practice at 3:30pm. There will be no free shuttle service or buses on Friday evening; but parking is available steps from show center for $20 a car. The beer garden, vendors and parking area will be open at 3pm on Friday, July 9th and are open to the general public. Fireworks will conclude the evening show               

Preview Party tickets are on sale at the Indiana Welcome Center (7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond) for $50 a person (children under the age of 6 do not require an individual ticket). The Preview Party includes parking, food, two drink tickets, the opportunity to meet performers and a private viewing area on the beach at show center. The Preview Party “doors” will open at 5pm with food and drinks.

The 11th Annual South Shore Air Show will go on rain or shine and acts are subject to change without notice. Premier parking is available for $20 a car and discounted two-day passes are available online. The weekend show, July 10th and 11th, will begin at noon and will conclude at 4pm with the performance of the USAF Thunderbirds. Other performers include the US Army Golden Knights, US Navy F-18 Super Hornet, Lima Lima Flight Team, Bill Stein, Lucas Oil Pitts, Dave Dacy & Wingwalker Ton Kazian, Team Aeroshell and Aerostars.
