At a Monday morning news conference announcing Bombardier Learjet’s intentions for a $52.7 million expansion in Wichita, many of the local economic development officials made the comment that good news was a great way to start the week.
From the city and county government’s perspective, it’s not a done deal yet.
But with 450 net new jobs tied to Bombardier’s expansion plans, it looks like too big of a deal to not get done.
The city and county will be voting on providing $1 million each to fund the construction of new parking lots at Bombardier’s facility in west Wichita.
“With a project like this, the only thing you can say is ‘wow,’” said Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer.
Brewer added that “we can and we will” get it done.
