Epicor Software Corporation, a global leader in business software solutions for manufacturing, distribution, retail and services organizations, announced that the Epicor(R) next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution has been selected for Universal Alloy Corporation Europe (UACE), an international leader in production of aerospace extrusions. Based in Canton, Georgia, USA, Universal Alloy Corporation (UAC), a company of Montana Tech Components, chose Epicor to support its business processes in its UACE Greenfield facility based in Dumbravita, Romania.
UACE provides the highest value casting, heat treatment, extrusions, and complex extruded shapes, profiles, detailed part machining, surface treatment, and assembly to their customers, including Airbus, Boeing, and Bombardier, from one location with one supply chain. The company chose Epicor because of its best business practices, as well as its ease of use and native adaptability to their requirements.
"Our company will benefit greatly from the Epicor system's ease of use, intuitive design and great clarity, accuracy and efficiency of information, all housed in one system," says Dr. Jon Kevin Loebbaka, president for UACE and vice president, worldwide project management for UAC. "In terms of the value received, we know that one of our sister enterprises run a tier one solution that just isn't a good fit for medium-sized businesses. Given the breadth of functionality Epicor offers, we feel that we will be getting a better return on our investment."
UAC is recognized by all major aircraft manufacturers and their subcontractors as the manufacturer of choice for superior quality aerospace components. UAC and UACE furnish the most difficult extruded shapes with the highest quality standards and the tightest dimensional tolerances available, with the goal to provide 100% on-time delivery while maintaining the shortest lead times in the industry. As part of a global alliance, UAC guarantees its customers first-class service anywhere around the world, providing fully-integrated operations with mills in Anaheim, California; Canton, Georgia; Menziken, Switzerland; and Dumbravita, Romania.
Because UAC operates in the high-tech industry, they also chose Epicor due to the solution meeting its critical business requirements of high quality and traceability. The Epicor next-generation ERP system is built entirely on a service-oriented architecture (SOA), which also means that it's agile and easily adapts to an organization's business processes, resulting in a solution that can adjust and grow with a business as it expands.
"This project is a prime example of how Epicor ERP solutions support the expansion of global aerospace and defense manufacturers into new markets," says Emil Bobocea, regional sales director for Epicor. "Epicor will streamline UAC's operations by integrating all its business processes into one end-to-end enterprise management system, enabling them to provide superior products and services to their customers."
The full integration of data collected throughout sales, customer service, logistics and production will give UAC's managers and employees the opportunity to focus on growth objectives and serving customers' unique needs. Loebbaka concluded, "As part of the Epicor implementation, we are also planning on transitioning this implementation back to our North American facilities as we begin machining at UAC."
