Wim Huijs, chief executive officer of Enginetics Aerospace, announced on Feb. 2 the acquisition of Weber Technologies Inc.
Enginetics is a leading manufacturer of complex sheet metal fabrications for commercial and military aircraft engines, serving all major Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs), Tier I suppliers, and the U.S. Government. Weber, based in Eastlake, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, is also a premier supplier of complex metal formed components to the aerospace industry.
"We are very excited about this strategic acquisition of Weber Technologies," says CEO Huijs. "The addition of Weber will provide Enginetics with new, best-in-class capabilities and increased capacity to serve the growing aerospace industry. Specifically, the acquisition positions us to combine the capabilities of both businesses in order to improve our standing as a supplier of choice to both Enginetics' and Weber's existing customers."
Huijs explained how the acquisition will provide the additional open capacity needed to execute upon the many opportunities in the aerospace industry. Weber will be a perfect complement, he mentioned, as Enginetics and Weber work side-by-side with their customers to develop new parts and programs for the many new engines and airframes currently being launched. In addition to greater capacity to serve an expanded customer base, Huijs also cited the benefits of acquiring new technology through the merged companies.
He also described how the redundancy in fabrication capabilities could ensure speedy and uninterrupted flow of finished materials to Enginetics' customers.
"Our goal is to meet the growth in the aerospace industry's supply chain needs," Huijs says. "This acquisition, which includes Weber's 80,000ft2 facility, enables us to do so.
