Bell Helicopter has selected the GE CT7-2F1 2,000 shp class engine to power its new Bell 525 "Relentless" Super Medium Transport helicopter, unveiled at the annual Heli Expo showcase in Dallas, TX.
Delivery of engines is scheduled to begin in 2013 to meet an aggressive flight-test, certification and production schedule.

Rated in the 2,000shp (shaft horesepower class), the CT7-2F1 engine will enable the Bell 525 to deliver enhanced payload, increased range and cargo/passenger capacity rfor a variety of missions. Capable of carrying up to 16 passengers, the Bell 525 Relentless supports customers in a variety of mission configurations including oil & gas, search & rescue, helicopter emergency services and VIP/corporate transport.
The latest version of the highly successful CT7 family is designed with an emphasis on low fuel consumption, low cost of operation and with other technical features to ensure aircraft meet the requirements of long range, high payload missions. The CT7-2F1 engine incorporates the full heritage of the T700/CT7 engine family, and includes a state-of-the-art Full Authority Digital Control (FADEC) plus advanced materials, primarily in the turbine section.
