The awards, aimed at recognising and rewarding the achievements of successful local firms and business leaders, are split into nine different categories and will be presented at two gala black tie awards dinners.
Atlas Composites, who manufacture composite aerospace components, have been shortlisted for the Rolls-Royce plc sponsored Excellence in Innovation Award as well as Business of the Year – the accolade for all round business excellence.
Atlas’ expertise in its composites manufacturing processes is helping to play a key research and development role in the development of Next Generation Composite Wings (NGCW) after being selected by Airbus as one of its strategic composites partners during the critical prototype and testing phase of the programme.
The NGCW project is a £103m initiative led by Airbus and other leading British organisations to revolutionise aircraft wings in order to design, manufacture and test significantly lighter-weight and more eco-efficient
aircraft.
Atlas Composites Managing Director Shaun Moloney is hoping a potent combination of sustainable business growth and industry leading innovation into aerospace composites may just prove to be a winning formula.
“We are absolutely delighted to receive two DNCC business award nominations, our continued development work with current customers such as Airbus, Rolls-Royce plc and GKN Aerospace has been crucial to supporting the sustainable growth in the business.”
“This underpins the need to develop our workforce and their skills through apprenticeship training to promote our capability to compete in international markets.” Explains Moloney.
“I would also like to take the opportunity to wish all the finalists the best of luck and together we can continue to promote UK manufacturing.”
