Boeing is set to propose a short-term fix for batteries on its grounded 787 Dreamliner passenger jets, according to a report by the Seattle Times.
The U.S. plane manufacturer wants to put a titanium or steel box around the battery cells, and install high-pressure tubes to vent gases outside the aircraft in the wake of a fire.
Although Boeing is currently working to redesign the batteries, the process could last as long as nine months, which could significantly affect the sales of the variant.
