Revised, Improved MillTurn Offering

The newly-revised M150 MILLTURN offers a range of improvements in the machine base, spindle housing, C-axis, tail stock, tool changer and the machine enclosure, making the M150 even more appealing.

The one-piece 60° inclined bed made of grey cast iron is the reason for the especially high rigidity of a MILLTURN. The use of large-dimension guides and slides ensures perfect stability and the best damping properties.

Other special features are a gear-driven milling spindle with double spindle clamping, as well as a clamping mechanism for the B-axis housing. In conjunction with the Heidenhain glass scales, which are standard for the X-axis and Y-axis, a position accuracy of less than 0.005mm in relation to VDI/ DGQ 3441 or a repeat accuracy of 0.001mm (depending on the machine models) can be attained.

The M150 MILLTURN delivers not only precise geometry and position accuracy, but also offers in-process measurement to identify unavoidable external factors and to compensate for them. For example, these factors often appear in the case of temperature increase on the workpiece during the machining process or even through workpiece wear, geometric deformations of the workpiece, tool or the clamping device, etc. To prevent these errors, WFL offers a software package that transforms the MILLTURN into a 3D measuring machine. Data obtained using WFL measurement software is used directly for correction.

The Siemens Sinumerik 840D is used as a control unit in all machine models. Thanks to the multitude of software cycles for hobbing, gear shaping, crankpin milling, cam milling, and deep drilling, extremely complex applications can be controlled in simple ways.

To effectively prevent collisions from occurring, CRASHGUARD WFL offers a real-time-enabled 3D machine model integrated in the CNC control (on-line system) for collision prevention in automatic and manual mode. The off-line safety system, CRASHGUARD STUDIO, is the ideal addition to CRASHGUARD. This involves 3D simulation software in which the CNC programs can be verified beforehand and optimized on the PC.
