Northrop Grumman Corp. will provide its third-generation LITENING Advanced Targeting system to the Finnish Air Force for its FiAF F-18 Mid-life Update 2 program, the company announces.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The system is a self-contained, multi-sensor weapon-aiming system that helps fighter pilots detect, acquire, auto-track and identify targets for delivery of conventional and precision-guided weapons. So far, Northrop has orders for more than 500 LITENING pods from the U.S. Air Force and allied nations. More than 370 of the systems have been fielded. With this order, the Finnish Air Force joins the U.S. Air Force, Royal Australian Air Force, Royal Netherlands Air Force and Italian and Spanish navies in the use of this product.
