April 2025 winner:
Curran Sekella, Consulting Engineer, SEPAC Inc., Elmira, New York
How long have you been in the aerospace business? College (Villanova) in the 1960s made me an engineer, and 1984 brought me back to aerospace as a founder, later president of SEPAC; after selling the company, as consulting engineer.
How did you become interested in aircraft? It’s in my blood. My father was a glider pilot in the 1930s and he took me flying on his lap when I was 2 or 3. I built model planes until I became fascinated with rockets in the 1950s.
What is your favorite aircraft and why? The Wright Flyer. What the Wright Brothers experienced and learned as pilots of their gliders led them to the final design.
Runners-up:
Joseph Espana, Mechanical Engineer, Turbine Controls LLC, Miramar, Florida
Logan Arbec, Production Control Manager, Lynch Bros. Mfg. Co., Phoenix, Arizona
