Fives’ machining platform coordinates two rotary axes and a short linear axis to support multiple machine configurations. Available in two sizes, the TTG100 and the TTG400, the machining platform is stiffer than conventional machines and offers thermal stability.
The stiffness allows removal from brittle materials as if it were ductile, which can reduce sub-surface damage.
Combination rotary and linear axes produces relative motion (both position and angle) between tool and workpiece across a swept working area. Rotary axes are rigidly mounted a fixed center distance apart from each other, offering relative motion between the component and the cutting tool. The linear axis controls depth of cut and profile shape. A non-contacting labyrinth seal prevents thermal distortions from the heat generated during grinding.
