IEMCA recently partnered with York Technical College's Institute of Manufacturing Productivity (IMP) in Rock Hill, SC. Students are trained on state-of-the-art machining centers and other high-tech machining systems.

IEMCA is providing the college with a Prodigy 551 bar feeder, which will operate on an Okuma ES-L lathe. The Prodigy supports a wide range of bar diameters and can run small- or extremely-high-volume production. The 6ft long machine is ideal for use when floor space is limited.

The Prodigy 551 will show the York Technical College students in real time how bar feeders benefit the entire system and how productive precision metalworking can truly be.

"We chose IEMCA for their global reputation in the bar feeder industry," says Bill Beaver, director of York Technical College's IMP. "They are very customer-oriented and are known for their extremely high level of customer satisfaction. They go above and beyond all expectations."

York Technical College is one of the nation's leading providers of advanced manufacturing training. "It's exciting to know that future manufacturing technicians will be using IEMCA equipment," says Stu Busman, IEMCA's regional sales manager. "The union of the industry and the community serves as a wonderful benefit to everyone involved."

The Institute of Manufacturing Productivity at York Technical College strives to produce a globally competitive workforce in the manufacturing industry for the benefit of the local, state and national economies, and for workers desiring to enter high skill, high wage occupations. The Institute builds upon industry partners whose products and missions are also to yield significant improvements in manufacturing productivity.
