3D Systems receives US Air Force contract for advanced metal printing system
U.S.-based additive manufacturing (AM) solutions partner 3D Systems has been awarded a two-year, $7.65 million U.S. Air Force contract for a Large-format Metal 3D Printer Advanced Technology Demonstrator (GEN-IIDMP-1000). The award is an extension of an existing program to demonstrate key technologies needed for 3D printing large, high-temperature metal structures associated with high-speed flight operating environments. The work will continue to be performed in its San Diego, California and Rock Hill, South Carolina locations. https://www.af.mil; https://www.3dsystems.com
QuesTek Innovations helps develop high-temperature printable alloy

Computational materials engineering company QuesTek Innovations is working with a global leader in niobium production to develop a high-temperature alloy design concept optimized for additive manufacturing (AM). The effort aims to support the development of next-generation alloys for the aerospace and energy industries, with a focus on scalability, supply chain resilience, and application-specific performance. The concept is being shaped with input from industry leaders to ensure it aligns with real-world manufacturing demands and performance goals across propulsion, power generation, and advanced equipment sectors.
The new alloy’s goal is to eliminate long tooling lead times and forge limitations that often slow development in high-temperature applications. By supporting hotter, more efficient engines and reducing manufacturing waste, it offers a path to lower emissions and increased system efficiency. https://questek.com
