Airbus A321neo with CFM LEAP-1A engines EASA/FAA certified

Toulouse, France – The Airbus A321neo powered byCFM International’s LEAP-1A engine has received type certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), paving the way for delivery of the first A321neo equipped with the LEAP engine later this year.

“The LEAP-1A entry into service on the A320neo has been incredibly smooth,” said Gaël Méheust, CFM president and CEO. “Our customers really love the fuel efficiency, reliability, and low noise the engine is bringing to their fleets. We are proud to be a part of this great program.”

The LEAP-1A-powered A320neo entered commercial service in August 2016 and nine airlines have taken delivery of a total of 72 engines to date.

LEAP-1A engines are a product of CFM International, a 50/50 joint company between GE and Safran Aircraft Engines. CFM has delivered more than 30,600 commercial aircraft engines to date. The LEAP engine family has more than 12,200 orders to date.
