Simonds' partner WESPA receives ISO 9001 certification

European manufacturer supplies carbon and bi-metal band saw blades for Simonds' European and North American markets.


Fitchburg, Massachusetts – Simonds Saw’s European band saw blade technology partner, WESPA, Melsungen, Germany, has received ISO 9001 quality certification. WESPA is a global manufacturer of sawing tools providing customized solutions and sawing products, including a range of carbon and bi-metal band saw blades for Simonds' European and North American markets. 
 
"WESPA has been our partner for 20 years and has always followed stringent quality control measures to provide the highest product and service quality. We are extremely pleased that their facility has been recognized with the ISO 9001 quality management system designation," said Jim Holston, vice president of operations for Simonds.
 
Christof Peter, quality manager and ISO 9001 project champion for WESPA said, "It was a two-year project to work through the necessary steps to become ISO 9001 certified, and the result was well worth the time invested. Customer confidence in our products is now further increased because the ISO 9001 certification is an industry recognized standard which is third-party audited."
 
Simonds also manufactures industrial band saw products in North America under a stringent quality system and have been ISO 9001 certified since 1993. Holston said, "ISO 9001 is an excellent process to identify non-conformances and implement corrective actions, resulting in improved quality and reliability. Simonds was the first U.S. saw blade manufacturer to attain ISO 9001 certification."
 
With more than 100 employees in the 45,000ft2 Melsungen, Germany, headquarters, WESPA produces a broad range of products for many industries.
